I am thrilled to share my experience with the Allett soil sampler. I purchased from Allett after doing a google search one evening after milking. My name is Susan Malkin and I run a family farm at Cotwalton Dairy in Stone,Staffordshire. We have just over 100 milking cows from which we sell milk from both a vending machine in our farm yard and via a milk dairy.
As any farmer knows the health of our land directly impacts the quality of our produce and levels of productivity of the land and that's why investing in the right tools is crucial. We have around 300 acres of land all of which needs testing annually. We are testing pH levels (so we know whether we need a lime application), phosphorous, potassium and magnesium. We have recently had a soil organic matter test done to test for levels of carbon in the soil. It is important we are testing regularly so we are putting the correct nutrients and fertilisers into the soil but also the correct crop into the soil type we have. At the end of the day we are looking to get the best yields from our fields on a yearly basis whilst battling with the weather conditions.

The Allett soil sampler is super easy to use and carry around the farm. I am able to take samples from different parts of my farm effortlessly and put them into sample bags to send off to the laboratory. The durability of the soil sampler has also impressed me. Farming can be tough on equipment and our land is very stony here in Stone but the Allett sampler has proven to be robust and reliable.
Figuring out exactly what's lacking in our soil could save us a lot of money on fertiliser costs. It doesn't come cheap! I wholeheartedly recommend the Allett soil sampler to fellow farmers who are looking for a handy tool for their soil sampling.
